Tiny spider-like ARC machines that cling to walls and ceilings, waiting to ambush unsuspecting players. When a target passes below, they leap onto the head and detonate. Individually fragile but terrifying in dark interiors where they hide in clusters.
Ticks remain stationary on walls and ceilings until a player enters their proximity zone. They then detach and leap directly at the player's head, latching on and detonating after a brief delay. A single melee strike is enough to kill one before it reaches you. They are often found in groups of 3-6 inside buildings and tunnels.
The Tick is a small-class ARC machine with 50 HP and a danger rating of 2/5. Small ARC machines like the Tick are individually weak but rarely come alone. Expect a swarm — keep moving, don't waste high-tier ammo, and remember that the noise of clearing a swarm draws every rat within earshot.
The Tick has 1 weak point: Entire body (one melee hit kills) (1x (instant kill on melee)). Hitting the entire body (one melee hit kills) is the highest-value target — every shot landing there does 1x (instant kill on melee) damage compared to body shots, which means you can drop the Tick with roughly 1 well-placed precision rounds from a mid-tier rifle. Body shots will work, but you'll burn through three to four times the ammo and pull every ARC patrol within a few hundred metres.
You'll find the Tick spawning in Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, Blue Gate, Stella Montis. Common drops include ARC Flex Rubber, ARC Thermo Lining, Tick Pod, which makes it a priority target for Raiders running crafting routes for the Workshop tech tree — the rare components from this enemy fast-track several mid-game upgrades.
